The Power of Dating

Welcome back to my blog, everyone! This past week, we discussed the importance of dating and marriage preparation. I found the lesson to be a blessing in disguise because I have been struggling to know what attributes to look for in a spouse. This is important to me because God has a plan for each of us, and as some might say, there is a lid to every pot. One thing that stood out to me in Brother Williams' lesson was a quote he shared from President Hinckley: "Don't date exclusively if you're not ready to get married." I took this to heart because, when it comes to dating someone for a long time, there are only two outcomes: it either ends in marriage or a breakup. I found this lesson to be a blessing because I have been dating this guy for over a year through the ups and downs of life and family experiences. As soon as I came to school we decided to do long distance and made it through my first semester of school. When I saw him over Christmas break, we talked ...

Empowering Daughters

Hey everyone, welcome back to my blog! This week, we had some incredible lessons from Brother Williams. He delivered the messages appropriately and was careful with how he phrased his teachings. We explored the differences between males and females and the roles they tend to take on. Additionally, we delved into the concept of gender, and it was such an eye-opening lesson that it changed my views on many of the topics we covered in class. Initially, I was raised as the firstborn son until my brother came along. Reflecting on my upbringing, I love the way my dad raised me. He taught me that I could do anything the guys were doing if I put my mind to it. He emphasized the importance of knowing my values, working hard, and always maintaining a positive attitude toward any task. These lesson...

Social Class & Cultural Diversity

Welcome back to my blog everyone! This week, our class explored the intriguing topics of Social Class and cultural diversity. Today, I want to focus on a thought-provoking question: What are two aspects of your own culture you'd like to perpetuate and two you would like to set aside or improve? How can you do that? Before I answer this question, it's important to understand the concepts of culture and social class. What is Social Class? Social class refers to a division of society based on social and economic status. It's a way to categorize people into groups that have similar levels of wealth, income, education, occupation, and social influence. These categories can influence a person's opportunities, lifestyle, and even interactions with others. What is Culture? Culture is the collective sum of a society's values, beliefs, customs, arts, social institutions, and other products of human work and thought. It encompasses the practices and ideas that shape the way ...
